MobileMax and BroadSoft to Showcase the Latest Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) /Unified Communications (UC) Mobile Clients at GSMA Mobile World Congress 2009
Companies Make FMC a Reality
GAITHERSBURG, MD and HERTZILIYA, ISREAL, February 12, 2009 - MobileMax today announced that it will showcase the latest mobile client versions for BroadSoft's BroadWorks® VoIP application platform at Mobile World Congress at Fira de Barcelona February 16 - 19, 2009. The MobileMax booth will be located in Hall 4, Level 1 at the IMA Pavilion.
A true fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) solution, the MobileMax client resides in the user's mobile device and extends BroadWorks' calling functionality to mobile handsets. It allows users to route mobile calls over their BroadWorks-based networks for secure, least-cost calling. The MobileMax client supports more than 800 phones and leading mobile operating systems such as BlackBerry (Bold and Storm handsets), Apple iPhone, Nokia Symbian, Microsoft Windows Mobile, and Google Android.
At the conference, MobileMax will showcase the new iPhone client and the new enterprise features for BlackBerry and Nokia, as well as demonstrate the latest enterprise edition mobile client. The demo will enable attendees to download the client over the air to their personal mobile handset and use BroadWorks IP Centrex PBX features, Mobile VoIP and Mobile Least Cost Routing (LCR). New features of the MobileMax client include:
- Seamless mobile call routing: Connects mobile calls via the BroadWorks VoIP platform; subscribers use the native dialer of their mobile phone as their office desk phone-single number ID, mobile extension dialing and cost saving.
- Mobile VoIP calls for dual mode smartphones: Connects automatically to the PBX SIP via preferred Wi-Fi or 3G networks and connects VoIP outgoing and incoming calls.
- Mobile LCR: Provides substantial cellular cost saving for corporate and residential users by leveraging rule-based call routing.
- Remote PBX Controls: Allows users (from their cell phone) to remotely access their PBX features like remote office, call forward, do not disturb, etc.
- Mid-call PBX controls: Uses PBX features during an active cellular call: call hold, transfer, and conference.
- Voice Call Continuity (VCC): Enables features such as GSM/VoIP call swap and "call pull" from office extension to mobile phone.
"The cooperation between MobileMax and BroadSoft® brings great value to service providers, enabling them to offer innovative services that bring cost savings to their business and residential customers," said Gaddi Mehahem, executive vice president of business development, MobileMax. "Service providers of all kinds-fixed line, wireless, VoIP, ISP and cable operators worldwide-are adopting BroadSoft and MobileMax products in order to provide VoIP to mobile users."
MobileMax is part of BroadSoft's Xtended Developer Program. Launched in March 2008 to drive the integration of voice and Web 2.0 technologies, BroadSoft's Xtended program enables service providers to offer enhanced, productivity-improving applications that extend the value of their telephony service. MobileMax built the client using BroadWorks' Xtended Service Interface (Xsi), a RESTful Application Programming Interface (API) that enables developers to integrate carrier-class call control and service features with Web 2.0, social networking and business process applications.
"A valued Xtended developer partner, the MobileMax client underscores the essence of Xtended, which supports third-party development of new applications and mashups that integrate with BroadSoft's advanced voice and video calling features," said Leslie Ferry, vice president of marketing, BroadSoft. "With MobileMax's powerful mobile applications and the BroadWorks platform, any end user can have a complete FMC solution."
