BroadSoft's SIP Trunking Application Wins 2006 Product of the Year Award
Communications Solutions Honors BroadWorks Business Trunking for Outstanding Innovation
GAITHERSBURG, MD, June 19, 2007 –
BroadSoft, Inc., a leading provider of VoIP application software,
announced today that its BroadWorks® Business Trunking application
is the recipient of the seventh annual Technology Marketing Corporation’s
(TMC) Communications Solutions 2006 Product of the Year award.
The BroadWorks suite of VoIP applications includes Mobile PBX,
Hosted PBX and Business Trunking for SIP-based and IP trunking.
BroadSoft’s Business Trunking application gives service providers
a viable option to deliver low-cost trunks to enterprises’
premises-based phone systems – such as Key Telephone Systems
(KTS) or Private Branch Exchanges (PBXs) ¬¬– while
leveraging the inherent advantages of newer IP PBXs. Business Trunking
is built on BroadSoft’s BroadWorks Session Initiation Protocol
(SIP) application platform and delivers SIPconnect-compliant connectivity
to a full range of Integrated Access Devices and IP PBXs.
“Service providers are finding BroadWorks Business Trunking
the ideal solution for large enterprises and SMBs that want the
benefits of Voice over IP, but are not yet ready to abandon their
traditional phone systems,” said Scott Hoffpauir, CTO for
BroadSoft. “Receiving the Product of the Year award is indeed
an honor. The BroadSoft team of engineers continues to innovate
with application enhancements that positively impact service provider
offerings and end-user productivity.”
Recently, BroadSoft® announced the availability of the latest
version of the BroadWorks Business Trunking application with new
benefits that increase system integrity and functionality. The enhancements
include:
• A disaster recovery solution that enables
government agencies and enterprises to reroute calls and maintain
telephone services to any location and any device, including landline
phones, mobile devices and PC-based softphones;
• Burstable activity, which allows for more
trunk channels than provisioned to permit bursts of traffic, thus
increasing the call completion rate. This enhancement is especially
valuable for businesses that experience temporary surges in call
activity, such as a golf shop during Father’s Day promotions;
• Two-stage dialing that allows integration
of Business Trunking deployments with mobile networks to extend
BroadWorks to a fixed-mobile convergence service.
“Telecom service providers are discovering that Business
Trunking complements Hosted PBX offerings,” said Scott Wharton,
vice president of Marketing for BroadSoft. “SIP trunking gives
business users the features, savings and reliability of an IP-based
communications system, while keeping their premises-based equipment.
Business Trunking also prepares end-users for an eventual migration
to a fully hosted solution.”
“BroadSoft’s BroadWorks Business Trunking has experienced
significant adoption rates among SMBs and large enterprises. It
has been recognized with a 2006 Product of the Year Award, because
it furthers the advancement of IP communications,” said Rich
Tehrani, TMC President and Group Editor-in-Chief of Communications
Solutions, “BroadSoft is frequently recognized as a leader
in VoIP applications. I am pleased to honor their hard work and
accomplishments and look forward to more innovative solutions from
them in the future.”
