BROADSOFT ADDS FAX CAPABILITY TO BUNDLED VOICE
AND VIDEO MESSAGING SERVICE
Latest BroadWorks release features enhanced unified
messaging package
PHOENIX, AZ, BROADSOFT CONNECTIONS 2006, October 17, 2006
- BroadSoft, Inc., a leading provider of VoIP application software,
today introduced at the BroadSoft Connections 2006 Executive Users
Conference fax messaging capability to its Unified Messaging service
as part of Release 14 of its BroadWorks® platform and VoIP application
software offerings. The new release blends fax messaging with the
voice and video messaging service, which leverages the converged
IP environment to provide end-users with the flexibility to use
and manage their messages from any location and over any interface.
Fully integrated with the BroadWorks VoIP platform, the new fax
capability enables carriers to offer enhanced messaging services
to a variety of users such as enterprises, small businesses, and
remote workers. With fax messaging, users can send faxes to group
distribution lists in a manner similar to the use of e-mail distribution
lists. Because fax messaging is routed as e-mail attachments, users
minimize the need for physical fax machines and phone lines dedicated
to fax use.
The fax capability also leverages VoIP globalization, enabling
end-users with distributed locations-such as frequent business travelers
or businesses with multiple offices-to maintain a fax number in
one country and receive faxes in other parts of the world.
Unified messaging enables service providers to easily set up voice,
e-mail, video, and fax services on a common, fully integrated Web
portal without need for separate platforms, thus reducing costs
and allowing the seamless addition of new services. The solution
scales to match any size BroadWorks deployment and leverages existing
assets of carriers and end-users.
"As an important productivity tool for BroadWorks users, the
fax messaging service complements the voice and video components
of BroadSoft's Unified Messaging portfolio of services," said
David Bukovsky, vice president of products for BroadSoft. "Adding
this service is part of BroadSoft's ongoing commitment to provide
value-added solutions for carriers to up-sell services to their
customers. We continue to develop fully integrated functionality
for a positive end-user experience."
Unified messaging with fax capability will be generally available
with BroadWorks Release 14 at the end of October.
