BroadSoft Welcomes Gary Ford as General Counsel
Former webMethods, Inc. Executive Brings Corporate,
Securities and Mergers and Acquisitions Expertise
GAITHERSBURG, MD, January 11, 2006 - BroadSoft, Inc., the
leading provider of VoIP application software, today announced the
appointment of Gary M. Ford as vice president and general counsel.
Ford joins BroadSoft from webMethods, Inc., a business integration
and optimization software company, where he served as vice president
and deputy general counsel, handling securities reporting and compliance,
corporate governance, corporate affairs and risk management matters.
Previously, he served as vice president and general counsel of AXENT
Technologies for five years, spanning its initial public offering,
acquisitions of public and private companies, a spin-off of legacy
operations and a variety of technology partnering and distribution
arrangements.
Ford will direct BroadSoft's corporate affairs, guiding its implementation
of corporate governance policies and best practices to comply with
Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, and supporting BroadSoft's design and
implementation of internal controls on financial reporting. He also
will be responsible for legal matters as BroadSoft expands its international
operations, intellectual property portfolio and technology alliances.

Ford also brings to BroadSoft over 25 years of experience representing
companies in public offerings, public company reporting and compliance,
corporate and technology acquisitions, technology distribution and
partnering transactions and equity incentive arrangements. His experience
also includes developing and implementing intellectual property
protection arrangements for worldwide patent, trademark, copyright
and trade secret protection, licensing and enforcement.

Ford holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from the University
of Iowa and a Juris Doctor degree from the Georgetown University
