BroadSoft Wins Best Practices Award from Cable
Association
BroadSoft and New Global Telecom Set Standard
for Best Practices in Business Services Case Study Competition Presented
by Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing
Gaithersburg, Maryland, April 18, 2006 - BroadSoft, Inc.,
the leading provider of VoIP application software, today announced
that CTAM's independent group of cable executive judges has named
BroadSoft® recipient of its Best Practices Award in the Industry
Supplier category of its Business Services Case Study Competition.
CTAM, the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing,
recognized BroadSoft for its case study titled, "BroadSoft
Business Service Outsourcing Provides Instant Relief and Easy Deployment."
The paper is subtitled "NGT's 6DegreesIP platform offers seamless
migration of 5,500 end users."
CTAM selected BroadSoft's case study for the Best Practices Award
based on the company's role in the seamless migration of thousands
of users from Level 3 wholesale VoIP service to New Global Telecom's
BroadWorks®-based 6DegreesIP product suite. The case study describes
the speed, features and practices that ensured service transparency
and minimal downtime to users when New Global Telecom picked up
a majority of Level 3's wholesale business after Level 3 announced
in January 2005 that it would discontinue its (3)Tone hosted PBX
business service.
In less than six months, New Global Telecom migrated 5,500 end-users
from 245 different businesses to its 6DegreesIP hosted service,
which is based on the BroadWorks® VoIP application platform.
New Global Telecom is an established BroadWorks operator that provides
wholesale VoIP service to retail VoIP service providers, including
multiple systems operators (MSOs).
The New Global Telecom/BroadWorks solution captured over 60% of
(3)Tone customers, with BroadWorks' feature-rich functionality and
carrier-class back office capability being integral factors to the
success of the migration. The end-to-end migrations averaged 30
minutes per site with a mean downtime of two to three minutes. The
transition activity and multiple vendors involved in the VoIP platform
migration were hidden to users.
"We congratulate BroadSoft for their winning entry in CTAM's
2006 Business Services Case Study competition," said CTAM President
and CEO Char Beales. "As the cable industry gains market share
in VoIP deployment, it's important to share learnings related to
the rollout of voice in the business sector. BroadSoft's case study
further validates VoIP opportunities for MSOs."
"BroadSoft is honored to receive this distinguished award
that recognizes our best practices in VoIP deployment and migration
for the cable industry," said Michael Tessler, president and
CEO of BroadSoft. "The transition of VoIP services from one
wholesaler to another necessitated a rapid response, a flawless
plan and smooth execution to assure continuous VoIP service to thousands
of users. We are happy to have had the opportunity to share the
story so that others might benefit from the experience."
