BroadSoft Platform Deployed by Broadwing Communications to Serve
Large Enterprise Customers' VoIP, Integrated Access and Next-Generation
Application Needs
Broadwing Selects BroadWorks for its Carrier-Class
Scalability,
Advanced Features and Ease of Integration
SUPERCOMM 2005 - June 6, 2005 - BroadSoft®
Inc., the leading provider of VoIP application software, today announced
that Broadwing Communications, LLC has deployed BroadSoft's BroadWorks®
platform. Broadwing is using BroadSoft's technology as a key component
of its innovative network, delivering nationwide VoIP services designed
to meet the needs of multi-site enterprises.
Broadwing selected BroadWorks because of its integrated and open-standards
based architecture, carrier-class reliability and extensive feature
set. This unique combination of benefits allows the company to easily
introduce new, next-generation features to its customer base.
"BroadSoft's technology provided a single, carrier-class platform
that best met our present and future needs," said Mark Pugerude,
senior vice president, marketing and business development for Broadwing.
"With BroadWorks, Broadwing is strongly positioned to offer seamless
migration to VoIP and unprecedented communications capabilities
to our business customers."
The launch of Broadwing's VoIP Integrated Access services (see
today's related release: Broadwing Communications Launches Nationwide
VoIP Service for Large Multi-site Enterprises) represents the company's
initial operational deployment of BroadWorks.
Broadwing's new VoIP Integrated Access services facilitate multi-site
interworking by interfacing directly with an enterprise's existing
equipment to support VoIP communications. For many large enterprises,
unifying VoIP features across branch offices employing a mixture
of communications systems has been an economic impediment.
By enabling enterprises to complement and integrate on-site PBX
features with advanced hosted VoIP and multimedia features, Broadwing
is uniquely positioned to meet the needs of multi-location enterprises.
This capability also can dramatically reduce enterprise customer
Wide-Area Network (WAN) communications costs.
Broadwing customers are able to implement VoIP solutions using
direct WAN connections among on-premises PBX systems via the Session
Initiation Protocol (SIP) capabilities of the BroadWorks platform.
This further reduces the customer's total cost of ownership by eliminating
the need to deploy expensive gateways to the public switched telephone
network (PSTN) at each enterprise location site.
"Broadwing is recognized as one of the nation's most aggressive
carriers with a reputation for harnessing advanced technologies
to deliver state of the art services to its customers," said Mike
Tessler, president and CEO of BroadSoft. "Broadwing and BroadSoft
are accelerating the business community's ability to enjoy the savings,
productivity enhancements and advanced capabilities inherent to
VoIP communications."
