Press Release
CSC SELECTS BROADSOFT'S BROADWORKS PLATFORM TO
PROVIDE HOSTED COMMUNICATIONS TO FEDERAL GOVERNMENT CUSTOMER
GAITHERSBURG, MD, April 29, 2003 -- BroadSoft®
Inc., the leading provider of hosted communications platforms,
today announced that Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) recently
deployed a BroadSoft solution to deliver hosted communications services
to a major federal agency customer. CSC, which provides hosted voice
and data services to several federal agencies, selected BroadSoft's
BroadWorks® solution.
"CSC has been providing end-to-end solutions to its clients
for more than 43 years," said Peter Himmelberger, a vice president
of CSC's Federal Sector business unit. "Before deploying a
traditional switch-based telephone system for a recent customer,
we worked through several business cases. Because the client's system
services multiple locations, BroadSoft's IP-based technology was
substantially more cost-effective than the switch-based option.
We realized that a transition to the BroadWorks solution could better
meet this customer's needs, and we acted accordingly."
BroadSoft has now announced 16 customers that are using the award-winning
BroadWorks hosted communications platform, further establishing
its market leadership with the most announced customers in its market
segment.
"This relationship reinforces our strategy of serving the
large enterprise through a variety of IT services organizations
and managed service providers," said Michael Tessler, president
and CEO of BroadSoft. "BroadWorks provides the reliability
and security that government agencies require as they upgrade to
advanced communications services. Our platform also gives these
agencies access to the full range of next-generation communications
applications."
BroadWorks provides a comprehensive range of applications including
Hosted PBX, IP Centrex, and Voice VPN. BroadWorks is uniquely capable
of providing these applications with the reliability, redundancy,
scalability, and regulatory capabilities required to deliver carrier-class
service. BroadWorks enables service providers to increase top-line
revenues by offering enhanced services to enterprise customers.
BroadWorks also reduces operational expenditures by empowering enterprises
to manage their own moves, adds and changes via the patented CommPilot
web portal. The open, standards-based environment of BroadWorks
provides maximum flexibility for service providers to customize
their offering.
