TELICA AND BROADSOFT STRENGTHEN PARTNERSHIP WITH
COMMERCIAL DEPLOYMENT OF INTEGRATED IP VOICE AND DATA SOLUTION
BroadSoft Becomes Premier Partner in Telica's Total
Solution Alliance Program
Marlboro, MA and Gaithersburg, MD - November 11, 2002 - Telica,
Inc., a leading provider of softswitch-based voice and data infrastructure
products for today's evolving telecommunications network, and BroadSoft®,
Inc., the leading provider of voice applications and servers, today
announced that the two companies have strengthened their partnership
with their first commercial deployment of a combined solution: Digital
Agent, a facilities-based provider of communications services for
businesses.
With this customer deployment, BroadSoft has become
a Premier Partner in Telica's Total Solution Alliance Program. To
achieve the Premier Partner level, BroadSoft's BroadWorks
voice application and services solution and Telica's Plexus
9000 voice packet switch engaged in rigorous field interoperability
tests to provide enhanced IP-based hosted voice services such as
IP Centrex and IP VPNs that utilize the SIP interface definition.
Telica's Total Solution Alliance Program provides carriers a framework
for certified interoperability guaranteeing end-to-end Class 5 and
Class 4 solutions for TDM, IP and ATM voice infrastructures.
Using the combined BroadWorks-Plexus 9000 solution,
Digital Agent can now offer small and medium-sized businesses in
Georgia hosted private branch exchange (PBX) and IP Centrex services.
"Telica is a recognized leader in providing softswitch-based
voice and data products to service providers. BroadSoft is very
pleased to become a Platinum Partner in their Total Solution Alliance
Program. Such programs are critical to speeding the adoption of
SIP-based integrated voice and data solutions," said Michael
Tessler, president and CEO, BroadSoft. "We look forward to
further collaborative efforts."
BroadWorks is the industry's first integrated system
of voice applications and servers enabling service providers to
deliver basic and enhanced voice services to enterprise. BroadWorks'
voice and media servers and telephony applications enable service
providers to rapidly and cost-effectively deploy a comprehensive
portfolio of carrier-class telephony applications such as IP Centrex,
hosted PBX, voice VPN, and enhanced network applications. Using
BroadWorks, service providers and customer administrators can manage
administrative functions with BroadSoft's patented web-based portal,
CommPilot. The BroadWorks architecture can scale to support millions
of subscribers and delivers 99.999% total system availability.
Telica's Plexus 9000 is a carrier-grade switch that
includes all the elements of a softswitch-based solution, media
gateway, media gateway controller and signaling gateway, to provide
Class 4/5 switching for the PSTN as well as ATM and IP networks.
These various softswitch components may be deployed in either a
distributed, centralized or integrated configuration to meet a wide
range of network requirements. A single Plexus 9000 shelf supports
up to 137,088 ports for TDM applications and up to 24,192 simultaneous
calls for voice over packet applications independent of IP or ATM
packetization. The unparalleled scalability and architectural deployment
options provide the highest level of flexibility for service providers.
"BroadSoft is a very successful and innovative
company. Telica has been working closely with BroadSoft for two
years and to see our collaborative efforts realized and live in
a customer network is very exciting," said John St. Amand,
president and CEO of Telica. "The entire industry has been
working towards a true converged model and we consider this deployment
with BroadSoft a significant step towards that goal."
Telica issued a separate new release today in conjunction
with this announcement announcing Digital Agent as a customer. (Please
