BroadSoft Named No. 1 Private Company by Light Reading

The latest Light Reading rankings for private companies are in, and BroadSoft snagged the top spot on its list of the Top 10 Private Companies. This is BroadSoft’s third year on the prestigious list, but its first time to hold the No. 1 ranking. Light Reading is a leading source for technology news and analysis of the communications industry.

The article noted some of BroadSoft’s recently announced partnerships, including Huawei, BEA Systems and Ericsson, along with high-profile customer wins, such as KPN and Siminn.

Light Reading said: “BroadSoft makes VoIP application software that allows carriers to offer services like IP Centrex for business customers and hosted residential VoIP for consumers, and it’s one of the indisputable leaders in a field that has reached a certain maturity.” » Read more.

Aastra Intecom-BroadSoft Alliance Yields New IP-PBX Solution for Large Enterprises

Aastra Intecom and BroadSoft have teamed up to bring a new carrier-grade, BroadWorks-based IP PBX solution for the enterprise market. Aastra Intecom introduced Clearspan™ in late July, marking the first time that a leading PBX provider and a leading VoIP provider worked together to bring high-value IP communications to large enterprises. Aastra Intecom, which has more than 28 years of experience in implementing complex solutions for large organizations, is using the BroadWorks platform as the foundation for its next-generation IP PBX solution.

Clearspan will give enterprises access to common PBX call features, plus advanced unified communications features, such as Microsoft Outlook integration, click-to-call dialing, simultaneous ring, and the extension of VoIP services to mobile devices. The premises-based platform allows delivery of VoIP applications over multiple types of networks and can be used with enterprises’ existing applications for a complete distributed solution.

In his blog, TMC Publisher Rich Tehrani wrote: “This joint product provides the perfect mobility solution for the large enterprise and the Aastra Intecom/BroadSoft solution is a win/win for the two companies and the customers they serve.” Aastra Intecom’s customers include the United Nations, the U.S. Army, NASA, Microsoft and Lexis-Nexis.

Did you know? Dallas-based Aastra Intecom is responsible for innovations that are Hall of Fame-worthy: the first commercially available VoIP platform, the first integrated Call Center and PBX functionality, and the first distributed PBX.

Introducing BroadWorks Anywhere

Imagine a world in which you’re on a conference call at the office but have to leave to get to your child’s soccer game — and can pull the call from your desk phone to your mobile device without hanging up. Or, imagine that it doesn’t matter where you’re calling a customer from — a taxi, a satellite office or your living room — to the customer you appear to be calling from your desk phone. These innovations are available today with BroadWorks Anywhere™.

BroadWorks Anywhere is a solution based on the fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) functionality of the BroadWorks platform. It simplifies, unifies, and streamlines communications for on-the-go and remote users by extending desk phone features to any fixed and mobile device, regardless of network or handset manufacturer.

Here are some of the benefits of BroadWorks Anywhere:

  • Only one business number is needed. Callers dial one number and can reach the user on any phone the user chooses: desk phone, cell phone and a soft phone simultaneously.
  • Universal features. Users have access to all of their business features—regardless of which device they use to answer or make calls.
  • Works independently of the user’s mobile network. No relationship with the user’s provider is required.
  • Move calls among devices. Users enjoy voice call continuity with the ability to move live calls from one device to another without hanging up.

Scale New Heights with Guy Kawasaki and Dr. Robert Cialdini at BroadSoft Connections 2007

Inject some passion into your business with wise words from highly acclaimed business strategist Guy Kawasaki at this year’s BroadSoft Connections Executive Users Conference. Kawasaki sets the tone for Connections 2007 as the keynote speaker by underscoring the conference’s theme, Scaling New Heights. Join him for an invigorating session on Monday, Oct. 15, that will leave you fired up about your company and what your organization can achieve through VoIP services.

Kawasaki has a reputation for bringing an evangelistic approach to high-tech business. As one of the original Apple employees responsible for marketing the Macintosh in 1984, Kawasaki focused on instilling passion in end-users, making them not just customers but also advocates for the Apple brand. Currently he is the managing director of Garage Technology Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm, and a columnist for Entrepreneur magazine. Kawasaki is the author of eight books, including The Art of the Start, Rules for Revolutionaries, How to Drive Your Competition Crazy, and Selling the Dream.

While at Connections, pick up a few tricks of persuasion from locknote speaker Dr. Robert Cialdini, a social psychologist, professor at Arizona State University and author of the acclaimed tome on persuasion and marketing Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion. Dr. Cialdini his book wrote Influence: Science and Practice after spending three years “undercover” applying for jobs and then training at used-car dealerships, fund-raising organizations, telemarketing firms and other places where he could observe persuasive tactics in action. His “six weapons of influence” were the fruits of this unorthodox research.
