Top 5 VoIP Resolutions for 2008

It's that time of year. You've cleared a square foot of work space on your desk and wiped away schematics for long-completed projects from your dry-erase board. Your new "Dilbert" stocking-stuffer calendar still has more than 350 days left on it.

Besides promising yourself to eat more salads for lunch, add "be on the cutting edge of VoIP" to your to-do list with these New Year's resolutions:

  1. Take advantage of the new BroadSoft University BroadWorks® certification program.
    BroadSoft University
Strengthen credibility and enrich knowledge by becoming BroadWorks-certified. BroadSoft University offers a way for BroadSoft customers to qualify prospective engineers who will be working on the BroadWorks platform. Any current or future system administrator working with BroadWorks can reap the benefits of these programs, including industry recognition and expertise on the job.

    Courses include:
    • Introduction to BroadWorks
    • BroadWorks Network Server
    • BroadWorks Application Server
    • Maintaining BroadWorks

For more information, go to www.broadsoftuniversity.com.

  2. Use the SIP Trunking Launch Kit to expand market share.
This easy-to-use tool kit gives you detailed instructions and best practices for launching a SIP Trunking service offering. The guide walks you through every stage of a rollout: designing your service offering, implementing your network, marketing and selling your offering and supporting your customers.

BroadSoft customers can find the SIP Trunking Launch Kit on BroadSoft Boulevard.

  3. Ride the Web 2.0 wave.
Mark our words: The next big news in VoIP is Web 2.0 integration. BroadSoft is at the forefront of this movement through its recent collaboration with Salesforce.com, the leading web-based customer relationship management (CRM) software. Stay tuned to BroadSoft's In the News section and future issues of BroadSoft Calling for more about BroadSoft's Web 2.0 innovations.

  4. Start using a video phone.
Another evolution in VoIP, video phones are poised to become more common as users break free from the mindset that phone communication is only auditory. With most broadband connections supporting adequate bandwidth for good-quality video calls, and a good video phone with a five-inch color screen costing as low as US$200 it's time to rethink how you use the phone. The BroadWorks platform natively supports video calling.

  5. Join BroadSoft's LinkedIn group.
With social networking websites changing the way people communicate and stay in touch with one another, BroadSoft has created a group on LinkedIn, the business networking website. Members of BroadSoft's LinkedIn group can ask questions, answer customers' questions and post and read news items about BroadSoft products and services. To join, log into LinkedIn and then go to the following URL: http://www.linkedin.com/e/gis/45079/29FD062925DC.
